Alberto di Fabio presents Artists who collect Artists

Curated by Mattia Andres Lombardo.

Inaugurated last Friday 18 February 2022, the show will be on view at Studio DFB in Rome (Via Raimondo Montecuccoli 28/A) until 15 March 2022.

Collecting works of art is a dream, a desire, often a parallel and complementary need for those who create art. Collecting means reconstructing the path and experience of a lifetime, looking back through the works of friends and artists who have represented something important, both from a professional and a human point of view. The collected works are precious talismans to be kept in the intimacy of one’s soul. A narrative path aimed at telling the research, dreams and life of others through one’s point of view.

With this spirit Alberto Di Fabio proposes for the first time in his studio his personal collection, created and collected through years of exchanges with other artists around the world, fellow travelers, who have had a more or less important role with the Alberto’s creative path.

Paintings, sculptures, photographs and videos that create harmonies and dissonances, activate memories, traces of consolidated relationships in elective affinities, unconscious memories that can emerge through this new and personal exhibition, perhaps suggesting new interpretations. Showing aspects of non-codified humanity, surprising in the singularity of the exhibition, art and life intertwine to trigger a short circuit, an encounter between artists free from any exhibition constraint.

Like words in a novel, the works on display suggest intertwining and bonds that are difficult to reach under normal circumstances, creating free paths in the liquid skies of our mind. The opening has been accompanied by the group’s unique musical performance Trivia formed by a trio, Alessandro Scintu, Pavlo Cartaginese and Matteo De Filippi. Life is a sonic journey that refers to dream times and spaces, to galaxies, to the sound of planets and the universe, to parallel realities of unexplored worlds.

A meeting of instruments that come from different cultures that converge to create Ambient atmospheres until they turn into explosive moments in which the rhythm becomes pressing. Their project blends ethnic, ancestral, aboriginal sounds with modern and contemporary sounds, through different musical instruments such as the Didgeridoo, the Tubular Harp, the Scacciapensieri, the Gong, the Canto Armonico, the Ciftelia, the Hulusi, the Hand Pan, the Cello, Sax, Flute and Sinth.
